When you visit The Float Sanctuary for your floatation session, we do everything possible to make you relax and enjoy your experience. We'll take you through what to expect and you'll always be in control of your float experience. You can choose to float with or without music, with or without light, and with the tank door open or closed.
The floatation session lasts 1 hour, plus time to shower and dress. Please arrive at least 10 minutes before your session begins.
You have your own private floatation suite which is lockable and private with its own changing area and shower.
If you use contact lenses, please remember to bring something to store them in while you float.
We provide Vaseline in every room for people to cover any small cuts and grazes.
We recommend that you have a quick shower prior to entering the float tank/cabin.
It is also recommended to float naked as even the sensation of wearing a swimming costume can detract from the float experience; although of course this is not mandatory.
After you step into the floatation bed, it is your choice to close the lid or leave it open. If you are claustrophobic, you may request to float in our float cabin. As you lie down on your back, you will find the water to be warm and soothing, and the Epsom salt allows you to float on top of the water. You have complete control of your environment the entire time. The light switch and control for the door are within your reach.
Relaxing sounds play while you ease into the first 10 minutes of the float session. It may take up to 15 minutes to enter the first stage of deep relaxation; the remaining minutes pass peacefully and effortlessly.
The end of your float session is signaled by the reintroduction of the music.
At the end of your float session, it is time to shower and then return to the transition area, where hairdryers are available. Shampoo, conditioner and shower gels are also provided.
To maximize the recuperative benefits of your float, we recommend that you spend some time in our transition area before re-entering the real world. Refreshments are provided for your enjoyment.
The only precaution that you should take is that you should not shave at all on the day of your float session. The high salt content of the water can be extremely irritating to freshly shaved skin. We recommend that you do not eat anything an hour before your session. Also, please do not drink any stimulants like coffee, caffeinated sodas, strong tea, or energy drinks before your float.
